The Curaçao Gaming Control Board is extending the license application deadline to April 30, as operators failed to meet standards, emphasizing the need to elevate compliance and prevent fraudulent claims.
The Curaçao Gaming Control Board (GCB) has taken into account the challenges faced by many operators and has chosen to extend the deadline for application, offering operators extra time to submit clear and accurate applications. This extension is a testament to the GCB’s commitment to fairness and understanding.
Thanks to the one-month extension (applied at the end), companies now have until 30 April 2023 to comply. However, the GCB has warned that any further amendments to the deadline will not be made after this.
It was observed that some requests were often delayed during processing due to incomplete attachments, which supposedly included documents and crucial information that could not have appeared on the three forms. The regulator emphasizes the importance of complete applications and will continue monitoring the applications it has received since setting up the online portal for submissions in November.
In addition to controlling ownership, the monitoring of the operators is now better managed since the masters are not at liberty to issue sub-licenses as they deem appropriate. Moreover, it is no longer easy for film studios to gain their regulatory consent.
Initially, the authority will grant each existing applicant a license by the current regulatory paradigm. The license will be automatically transferred into a new framework upon its implementation. Raising the current compliance standards and preventing businesses from producing Curaçao licenses are the two goals that must be met during the anti-fraud campaign.
