FanDuel secures entry into Washington DC’s sports betting scene via Intralot subcontract, offering mobile and retail platforms. The deal, facilitated by the Office of Lottery and Gaming, aims to boost tax revenue and support local businesses. GambetDC kiosks will transition to FanDuel branding, complementing recent acquisitions for product development.
According to the Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG) for the District of Columbia, FanDuel is officially launching there. A recent sports betting sub-contract with Intralot will address this.
The FanDuel website, mobile app, and retail sports betting systems are available to residents of Columbia, also known as Washington, DC.
Only residents and visitors to the jurisdiction will be able to use the FanDuel app when it launches in Columbia later this spring.
Officially, FanDuel’s premium services will generate significant tax revenue for the county under the terms of the current deal and provide a first-class experience for residents over the age of 18, OLG Executive Director Frank Suarez remembers.
Intralot will provide the $5 million needed to launch a sports betting app in Colombia. In addition, Intralot will contribute additional funds to cover sports betting expenses at the OLG and a project aimed at increasing sports betting revenue.
Profits from sports betting go into the county’s general fund, which supports many programs.
It is expected to double in size thanks to contributions from the community and small business owners under the Certified Business Enterprises (CBE) program.
In due course, FanDuel-branded outlets will slowly replace the current Gambet DC outlets.
Recently, FanDuel acquired BeyondPlay, which focuses on creating content for developers. The announcement follows the acquisition.
