New York mobile sports betting handle reaches $19.6bn for the 2023/24 fiscal year

Last updated: April 09, 2024

New York’s mobile sports betting continues its upward trajectory, hitting $19.6 billion for the 2023/24 fiscal year. March’s figures reveal a slight rise in both handle and gross gaming revenue, with significant fluctuations observed among prominent operators like FanDuel, BetMGM, DraftKings, and PointsBet (now Fanatics).

New York’s Mobile Sports Betting Hits $19.6bn for 2023/24 Fiscal Year

The state of New York has revealed quarterly data from mobile sports betting in the fiscal year 2021–2022.

Before the declaration of the results of the March numbers, the state had already broken its fiscal year total handle (2022–23) record. These latest figures will only help bring progress into a second full fiscal year of record-breaking mobile sports betting.

The fiscal year 2023-2024 gross gaming revenue (GGR) amounted to $1.76 billion according to the budget bill, whilst the gross casino revenue approached the $20 billion mark but fell $19.6 billion short.

For example, focusing on the very data during March, we can find the handle for mobile sports wagering raised minimally from $1.79 billion to $1.85 billion as compared to the same period last year this was just a 4.3% monthly increase, still consider this to be the state’s Year 2022 fifth-largest handle achieved in a single month as sports betting mobile options started in January of this year.

March Performance of New York Sports Betting Operator

For March, the GGR provisional amounted to $151.7 million, based on the previous month’s $131.4 million but lower compared to the last year. Annual GGR fell by 6.8%; its March figures were at the 5th place in the history of New York’s gaming revenues.

Initiating with FanDuel as a New York-based operator, the monthly GGR growth has reduced by less than $10 million in March in comparison to the previous decline in February. This is a slight improvement from FanDuel’s previous year. Rather than having a GGR decrease of 5.7% as in February, BetMGM expanded its winning by an extraordinary 1243.4%. In reality, however, DraftKings’ GGR went down from $53.4M in February to $48.8M in March, even though the bookmaker’s handle grew.
