New Jersey’s sports betting landscape sees a shift as PointsBet overtakes DraftKings in gross gaming revenue for March, with FanDuel maintaining the lead. Fanatics Betting and Gaming’s acquisition of PointsBet signals a strategic move to bolster its market share, targeting expansion and brand transition in key states like New York and New Jersey.
While FanDuel and DraftKings have maintained their dominance in sports betting in New Jersey for a long time, it seems DraftKings is now coming out numero uno. Coming in the second position after DraftKings in the gross total gaming revenue (GGR) figures released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement on Tuesday was PointsBet
In early March, Fanatics Betting and Gaming took full control of PointsBet in the US market. For that month, revenue booked was $20.1 million which was on the higher side as compared with DraftKings‘ $17.6 million. The sum of all operators in-state was close to $90 million, which was $ 29.5 million for FanDuel to lead from the pack, among others.
Fanatics recently launched Fanatics Sportsbook which is now available in 19 states. The sportsbook is in the process of attracting a larger share of the market by competing with the two major brands.
By the time of the season’s kickoff in April, the PointsBet sportsbook of New Jersey will be known as Fanatics. The market’s largest bettor is in New York, where it now ranks 5th in the market.
